Now, finally, the Rugby World Cup 2007 in progress. We've been waiting for what seems ages for this competition, having finally kick-off and several games in the last days played. Some unexpected disturbances, but most of the results as expected. One thing is certain that thousands of supporters flocked to France for this great rugby show to see. The stages have seen a full house of visitors and money floods in France has already exceeded expectations. Add to this scenario that literally millions of fans around the world on their television screens, and we have a super-duper tournament.

There are too many games each day, and too many teams and individual players who are in a position to report fully on each game, so we played with results and brief overviews of the game continued until today. Do not forget, a free and result scoresheet at the bottom of the page to download.

The whole tournament was preceded by a glamorous opening ceremony, staged at the Stade de France in St Denis, just before the opening match between France and Argentina. Hundreds of gymnasts, musicians and dancers showed up in a big show, carefully choreographed, which went like clockwork. Broadcast official anthem 2 competing countries, and was then finally start the game.

Pretty sad and embarrassing for France, I suppose, she seemed overwhelmed by the importance for all occasions and never really enters the picture. She stuttered and started and seemed nervous and uneasy. The Argentines, on the other hand, appeared cool and calm and the economy at hand dedicated. By pure courage and strength, they took an early lead and pounded the French into submission at every opportunity. They were sure winners and did the only tri in the game. Although not much of a fluid game, this was an exciting meeting. Many Argentines actually play their club rugby in France, never intimidated by the French team. The end result was 17 to 12, in Argentina, they are charged a deserved victory and 4 points. The French had to settle for a point before the loss of less than 12 points.

The second match was against Italy in New Zealand. A brave, Italy trying everything they could, but could never match the unique character and much more Kiwi. All Blacks showed why they are pre-tournament favorites, with an excellent display, but it seemed as if they never really stepped up their efforts fully. She made 11 tries. There was not necessary. Without too much effort to convince them winners, 76 to 14 courageous Italians may actually turn, his 14 points, with 2 relatively easily tempted.

The third match was expected in Japan and Australia against the Aussies, but all were destroyed by Japan to try in 13 nil. The final result was 91-3 and set off against Australia 5 straight points.

Fourth was the England v USA. Again, were expected to England to play rugby in general not beat nation, but fighting ever put up a convincing. Many were curious about how the state of defense cup holders, but England was almost a disappointment. They were able to just 3 tries to get an American. Anyway, they took the victory with a final result 28 to 10

The fifth match between Wales and Canada are expected to have a bit more even match with Wales has not had the best season, and Canada, one of the few minnows put up a good show at the last tournament. Wales never really struggled and was able to beat Canada by 42 to 17, but took a quick 5 points. But Wales 5 trying to work on 3 from Canada and have their games that they are taking Australia next attack.

The sixth game was a many rugby fans waited impatiently waiting. The match between South Africa and Samoa had always meant to be a tough fight. The strong and heavy beat Samoans have a good reputation for its toughness and has put many an ardent opponent of the field due to injury. The Spring Boks should have been thoroughly prepared for this competition and be as likely winners of the cup of praise. On the other hand saw the Spring Boks nervous and had a full 20 minutes to get into the game. Only in the second half, was that they were better and ran in 8 tries, a Samoan's. The end result was 59 to 7, but halfway through, it seemed, however, that Samoa would be a major challenge. Brian Lima, the Samoans, has made history as the first player who has participated in the last 5 Rugby World Cup competitions. Unfortunately he did not put on the field for long, for a kamikaze type of Andre Pretorius, concussion and left him dazed. Jean de Villiers, also leaves the field, blue with a torn bicep muscle and a few ribs. It is expected to keep him from further participation in the tournament. In all cases, looked so more and more clinical settled in the last 20 minutes and the winner with a well-deserved haul of 5 points.

Seventh on the schedule was the match between Scotland and Portugal, Scotland once again seemed to be too strong for the Portuguese and undertook 7 tries 1st The Scots friends 56 to 10, and claimed 5 points for victory.

The eighth and final game of the weekend was the collision of Ireland, playing the relative minnow team from Namibia. The Irish won 32-17. I thought personally that they would win by a much larger margin, but they took their well-deserved 5 points. Ireland managed 5 attempts and Namibia got 2nd

Ninth on the schedule, the game between Georgia and Argentina in their second game, for against France. Argentina was far too good for lowly Georgia won the match 33-3 with tries by 4 zero.

Next round, the tenth game of the Rugby World Cup 2007, Tonga vs USA. Tonga is a tough outfit, as Samoa and it was no surprise that they hit in the U.S., 25 to 15

Next on the schedule, was the match between Fiji and Japan. This victory was pretty much the result remains solid, with Fiji, from 35 to 31, but Japan fought bravely.

Earlier in the twelfth game, Italy and Romania. The Italians are a feisty bunch and took the honor with a score from 24 to 18

The 13th game of the Rugby World Cup, and of course a lucky 13, for the Spring Book, was the long awaited fight between South Africa and defending champions England. This was a game where England would have buried the Springbok hope to achieve the final. With Jonny Wilkinson, is not equipped to play for England, there was a serious blow to their chances, but fortunately the Spring Boks had problems with his own. A late appeal, the players and great exterior, Schalk Burger, for an alleged dangerous tackle that was in Samoa player, blocking him after 4 games. This was a blow to the South African who has already lost a game maker at inside center, Jean de Villiers to injury and unfortunately lost Pierre Spies, even before she came to France. An appeal of the suspension, the penalty was reduced to 2 games, but still meant that Burger was out for the all important match against England, and the game against Tonga on 22 September.

The Spring Boks took the game from the first few minutes and try even just a mistake, went into the break with a commanding points from 20 to 0. After half-time they continued their strong attacks and rock solid defense, England completely closed from the game. Although the Bank has launched a whole, in the last quarter, they managed to maintain the high level play. In all South Africa is a wonderful game, had England never looked dangerous and the ref controlled the game very well. The end result was signed by 36 to 0 and South Africa claimed a further 5 points.

At the end of the first week and after 13 games, we have the pools look like this:

Pool A: South Africa 10, England 4, 4 Tonga, Samoa 0, USA 0, Pool B: Australia 5, Wales 5, Fiji 5, Japan 1, Canada 0, Pool C: New Zealand 5, Scotland 5, Italy 4, Romania 1, Portugal 0, Group D: Argentina 9, Ireland 5, France 1, Namibia 0, Georgia 0

Incidentally, one thing is mentioned this mode for so-called minnow teams. Someone asked me to give, on the second day, why some countries even bother. Did you know that no country should enter their names on the list, and they are not drawn from a hat. They all have to qualify and they play so much games and so much to gain pleasure. During the last 2 years, these young boys have been knocked out at the end of the log file, and those who have done everything, will then participate in the World Cup tournament. So even though they may seem insignificant, they have plenty of time and win enough games to qualify for this tournament.
